Rudolph the red nosed reindeer

En 1939, le publicitaire Robert Lewis May réalisa un livret publicitaire pour les clients du grand magasin Montgomery Ward Company à Chicago. Le livret racontait l'histoire du neuvième renne de l'attelage du Père Noël. Rudolphe était le mal aimé des rennes, rejeté par ses congénères à cause de son gros nez rouge et fluorescent. Pour cette raison, il fut choisi par le Père Noël pour guider son attelage les nuits de brouillard. Il devint le renne préféré du Père Noël.
En 1948,  le compositeur Johnny Marks, beau frère de May, mit en chanson l'histoire de Rudolphe. Interprétée par Bing Crosby et immédiatement traduite dans toutes les langues, la chanson fut un succès mondial.
